It was a full day yesterday. The FG Posse went out sightseeing and we met up in Charlie’s Beach Bar next to Checkpoint Charlie. It’s a good place and I recommend anyone to go there, and yes it is a sandy beach…
After that we met up again in the evening at The Ashmore.I was early as usual and got chatting to a couple of old chaps and through a combination of my broken German and their broken English established that I am now “ Scottish Man” to be honest it was easier to let it slide than go into a laborious explanation of where they’d gone wrong…then two young lads from Austria sat down so naturally we talked about Sasa and how good he is then things got really weird when one of the German blokes mentioned Hitler to the Austrian lads.I didn’t get the whole gist of what he was saying but judging by the looks on these lads faces it was something that shouldn’t have been uttered. Not long after I excused myself and rejoined the FG Posse…oh and neither the Germans or Austrians had ever heard of Liebfraumilch either…we never asked about Black Tower as that would have complicated matters…
Talking of Sasa, hopefully later on today I’ll see him bag a goal or two v Liverpool.I will be watching the game at Belushie’s next to Rosa-Luxembourg Platz U-Bahn Station.I have previously seen us beat West Ham(Adama last minute winner) and Chelsea(Nunes only contribution to Wolves) so I’m looking at the hat trick today…
Will post more later…ciao for now.
Just took a stroll down the East Side Gallery on my way to the shops. For those who don’t know it’s a mile long stretch of the Berlin Wall which has numerous paintings on it as a comment/celebration of the wall coming down. What struck me was the lack of graffiti on it.If you have been to Berlin,or indeed anywhere in Germany, you’ll know that nearly every space has some sort of graffiti on it but not this.Maybe it’s got special anti graffiti spray on it or something or maybe it’s so well respected that no one dares to touch it.Answers on a postcard please…
Been told off twice the last two days.Yesterday was in the beach bar when I forgot to flush the urinal.I normally remember but in my defence we don’t have them in the UK so it’s easy to forget and today I didn’t close the lid of the salad bar at REWE supermarket.Again in my defence they normally slam shut like a crocodile’s jaws. The checkout girl came rushing out jabbering away at me,which is probably the most she’s spoken to a customer in three years….anyway a simple hands up gesture and “es tut mir leid” ( Sorry) diffused both situations…
Anyway that’s all from the Scottish Man for today…possibly.
